walking and running - both rock no doubt! (By Jess)
Having been an avid walker for years now since living in Barrie (and thus from the walking, losing weight slowly but surely), I agree that it does wonders! I have heard that a good steady walk is just as good for you as a shot jog. Also, with walking, whoever you go with, you can talk easily to them and it feels less like "work". Matt and I have always felt getting out and playing frisbee, badminton, volleyball, or swimming have been great sneaky ways of exercise as we are having a ton of fun doing these activities! But, I do want to give this running thing a whirl and see what it does for me. I do suggest everyone walk as far as you can each day. Lengthen your stride. Walk for over 30 mins/7 days a week and you should eventually see improvement. IT really gets to be rewarding. Matt and I make a point of getting out and at the very least, walk together. My fear is when we decide to move...we will move to an area that I dont care to walk or run in - BUT, that is a fear cause I lived it in OShawa for a brief time - I will be sure when buying down the road that I am inspired to get out and MOVE ma BODY. haha Soooo, Matt and I are going on day three of running and it is without "humming and haaing" (however that saying goes - lol)...we just seem to like it. I am hoping this can be done up until the snow is covering Toronto. At that point I will likely commit to Yoga more. We'll see. So Ang, hope you and Jenny get out walking with some good fresh air (sounds to me like you have a great area to walk with the forest right there!!! Awesome!). Also, hope you feel better. I know having an icky stomach is no fun. Hey, drink lots and lots and lots of water too to help yourself out. Let us know if it gets worse. :(
Hope you are all feeling well and happy! xoxox
