Slow wins the race right? (By Jess)
Dad, I concur! We can't just expect this to be any form of a quick fix diet. I think we all need to be excited and motivated, but not too much of the two that we are going into this lifestyle change strong, but inevitably giving up just as fast. I think our motivation needs to be consistent. You know what I mean? I remember when I was quite overweight, I would have an "ah ha!" moment, and the next day would get SO excited and motivated with the prospect of weight loss that I would go strong for a few weeks, and finally, my "high" would die, and I would lose momentum therefore stop eating well and exercising and thus gain the weight back. Not to pick on Bernstein, but I do believes he makes people lose weight, no matter what his method is, it is just he probably doesn't make long lasting maintenance much of a reality for his clients. I think we need to take this somewhat slow, moment by moment, day by day, week by week. We have to stop, think, and make SMART choices before putting anything in our mouth. We will make some boo boos here and there. I think as long as we have enough will power to allow ourselves to make only a minor error in judgment, and therefore return quickly to our life changes for weight loss, we will succeed.
Keep your eye on the prize. I envision myself skinnier, healthier, and feeling overall well. I am holding on to this vision. I think it might carry me to my weight goal and to maintain it cause I know how good it feels to have the bulky weight off. After losing 60 some lbs a couple years ago, I felt GREAT! Anyhow, all I can see in the future is our family feeling better and healthier, playing together! Family the plays together stays together! heheehe
Love you all
