Quiet Day
Yesterday , at the craft show it proved to be one of not much traffic. This particular show we have done for the 6 years they have run it, it was always the churches' hope that the flag day parade traffic in Stoney Creek would end up at our sale. Not so this year, we've watched the decline everywhere.
Anyways we have always enjoyed this church group. They provided ongoing platters of sweets, all day long, always helpful and kind to their crafters. It was a real feel at home place. Help yourself in the kitchen too, like being a kid in a candy store. Music filled the air to the likes of Celine, Josh and Barbra, and others making a quiet times at least bearable.
At lunch they have a barbecue from which we did purchase a peameal on a bun. We always feel we are giving to the church, which we are. All the shows we do are fundraisers for organizations, finding that the lack of volunteers to set them up is what may eventually spell the end to many. It's a whole new generation out there. It's a shame because many new crafters do not have the funds to rent space at the bigger shows and festivals.
To be true to ourselves we brought our cooler filled with fruit and yogourt and drinks. Even Al who I feel could afford the treats did not to help me stay true to myself and my cause. What a man!
We did not have one single sweet, and I did not raid the Bake table and purchase goodies for upcoming company or for us to snack on while we wait for business to pick up. Boredom tends to make me want to put something in my mouth, so I'm finding better choices. Walked around and talked alot to many of the crafters and artists, only bought 3 hostus plants for our front garden.
Following the long day some us were invited to a private home for a sort of final farewell to this craft show (last one). There was wine and ordeurves which we did indulge in , then came home and feasted on bundles of steamed asparagus and leftover stirfry from the day before for supper. Evening consisted of our rice cakes.
Pulled lots of weeds in the front garden, bending over, good for the tummy.
After all that I somehow managed to remain the same today weight wise. Perhaps I'll find it tomorrow. It's been a week of little slips here and there however after each, got back on track and carried on. That's life. Everyday is not a perfect day. All we can do is try.
Today we will sit and try and sell some more in the newly air conditioned church hall. Then this afternoon the big dismantelling and carrying of all our stuff to the car, from there it goes back into the house, that is the true physical muscle building work!
