Pooped! (By Jess)
Hi everyone!
Matt and I returned from camping a few hours ago and are both pooped. A little too much sun, a lot of exercise and good times...Matt is napping! haahaa I feel my eyes heavy but wanted to touch base quickly to say hi!
Omi, so nice to see your entry on the blog again! And as Ang said, you can always ask us to post your words for you to make it easier. Birgie, thinking about you and glad to hear you got such enjoyment from being out in the garden this weekend! Jen, nice to see you on here and being so sweet. Neen, sorry you have been sick the whole weekend, that always stinks! Ang, good for you for losing two lbs! Thats awesome! Keep at er! :)
I have to weigh in tomorrow morning, but we didnt even eat that poorly over the weekend. I was pleased that we arranged to have fresh fruit, and salads for part of some meals. I did have to enjoy some roasted marshmallows, and sadly, for an alcolohic beverage I had a few coolers (loaded with sugar!). Though, I found pomegrant coolers with also only 5% alcohol so I was pleased atleast! haha Camping was really nice! Matt and I played cards, talked, took a long hike, and found ourselves in a huge field and played badminton and frisbee gallor (hence the sun getting us!). I was glad to get out of the madness of the city, and found as soon as we returned to Roncesvalles, there were SO many cars and people out and about, and noise, that I got irritable! So annoyed that the over stimulation is getting to me. Ah well, we have plenty country get aways this summer to focus on, so we can live in the city, and enjoy many things that only the city brings, but I can know I have the ability to relax and connect with my deepest thoughts and nature.
I wanted to share too something. Friday Matt and I swung by mom and dads before camping, and dad gave me my "young life" file folder. During the weekend I found a couple very interesting things. I had 4 envelopes with my hair in it. The cutest was at 3 1/2 yrs....my hair was blond, soft (I opened it), and had a little curl to it. I opened the others (up to 15 years of age) and it was so neat to feel them and compare my hairs texture. I also found many papers on my learning disability. What the?!?!?!? This is extra strange to me. I recall mom and dad telling me during highschool that I had to try harder than other kids to pass, but never had I thought I had been deemed to have a learning disability! During our interview at 3 yrs old, the Psychologist said I was friendly, hard working, and confident, but not working academically at a level to which was expected. I always knew I had to try harder than others, but mom and dad never defined me as a kid with a disability. Perhaps had they, my way of life may had been totally different. I am thankful that everyone just let me continue in school as I was (rather than put me in a special education class), because I know after my BScN, this LD was not something that was going to define me. During my degree, I was SO interested in the topics, papers and exams that I did very well in each course. Even math! I believe I have no problem at all! haha I do think that was super interesting and as I said above, strange to see I had such concern from Psychologists and teachers as a young girl! You define yourself as you wish, and I am never going to define myself as having an LD, because if I did, I may not have allowed myself to have succeeded as I did. Interesting to ask yourself how do you view yourself, and how do others view you?
Well, I attached a picture from our trip. Sending you all good luck on-weight-loss hugs!
Love, Jess
