response to Neenie
Hi Neenie;
As I have often talked, you can never go back to the past. Our family is unfortunately afflicted with pangs of guilt or at times feelings of being a victim. The fact of the matter is that we need to look at here and now. Tomorrow will be today and the best we can achieve is to look at each day by itself as we are here. I am a strong believer in goal setting, but the whole idea of a plan is not what your goal will look like in one or two years, but instead it's a call to arms for what you must do today to achieve the stellar results for tomorrow.
Today I will be golfing and for you golf fans, the game is a good metaphor for life. Your score will be the sum of every stroke you took in the game and yet every stroke is an independent action. If you had a bad shot, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it, but to gather your mental control and let the next shot soar (assume driving and not putting!).
I'm delighted that you have found a neat home and I detect that you are looking to return to school, which I think would be simply excellent. Rob Bourns daughter, Amy who you know had gone to med school after a number of years on the music scene and I think she is now close to doing her residency in Ottawa. You might want to track her down (I could get contact information if you wish), as she too made choices about life with music and has now chosen a commitment to medicine.
You're a woman with potential, so I say "Do today what will be important for tomorrow."
And I better stop advising the competition!
Ham
